Picked up lock picking as a random hobby last month after losing my apartment keys 3 times in one week

I was so frustrated after the third locksmith bill ($85 each time) that I bought a $20 practice lock set on Amazon. Now I've got my own keys opened in under 2 minutes, though my front door still gives me trouble. Any tips for getting past those tricky pin tensions on basic deadbolts?

For the deadbolt tension issue, try backing off the tension just a tiny bit once you feel the pins bind, most people crank down too hard and then wonder why nothing moves. Also make sure your practice lock isn't some cheap $8 piece of junk from a gas station, those things have pins that feel like they're made of butter. Ive got a clear plastic practice lock that shows the pins moving and that helped me figure out the feel way faster than messing around in the dark.
