Hit 500 records in my collection last week and it kind of freaked me out

I was just organizing my shelves after picking up a stack from an estate sale and decided to count them. 500 exactly. That number hit different because I never set out to own that many. I started maybe 4 years ago with like 20 records from a guy clearing out his garage in Portland. Now I have a whole wall of shelves and I still buy more every month. The thing is, I don't even listen to half of them regularly. I just like finding them and cleaning them up and knowing they are there. Does anyone else hit a certain number and suddenly feel like you need to slow down or is that just me?

Remembered that feeling when I hit 300 and told myself I was stopping. Then 400 happened and I said okay this is it for real. Now I am at 612 and my wife gives me the side eye every time a package shows up. I swear half my collection is just records I bought because the cover looked cool or it was two bucks at a thrift store. The other half is stuff I already own on CD but wanted the vinyl version for some reason. So no you are not alone and I think we both know we are not actually going to slow down.

My 400 mark came and went about the same time I started buying a second copy of albums just to have the colored vinyl.
