Rant: The time a neighbor used a hammer on his laptop screen

Guy next door tried to fix his cracked laptop screen by tapping it with a hammer, said it worked on his old TV. I watched him do it from my porch last Tuesday and had to bite my tongue.

Yeah it worked on his old TV." That takes me back. My uncle swore by percussive maintenance until he tried to fix his VCR with a shoe and it exploded plastic everywhere. Sometimes you just gotta let people learn the hard way, even if it hurts to watch.

Oof, that shoe story hurts just to picture. It's rough when you're just trying to help and it backfires that hard. But you're right, sometimes people really do need to figure it out for themselves, even when your brain is yelling "don't do that!
