Swapped to wooden knitting needles and my wrist pain got worse

I tried bamboo needles for a month thinking the grip would help my carpal tunnel. Actually had to squeeze harder to push through the yarn and ended up with more soreness than metal needles. Anyone else have this issue or did I just pick the wrong wood?

Oh man, that's honestly kind of funny in a painful way. Like you're trying to help your wrist and it just fights back even harder. I tried bamboo once and felt like I was wrestling a stubborn toddler with each stitch. The grip sounds great on paper but it's like the yarn just refuses to slide. Maybe you need to sand your needles down or something but that sounds like a whole other project you didn't sign up for. Hope your wrist feels better soon, switching tools shouldn't be a workout.

Nah @ward.piper, it's actually acrylic that sticks worse than bamboo.
