My attempt at my great-grandma's bread recipe was a sticky mess

Oh, that's so familiar! My friend Jake dug up his great-aunt's pie crust recipe last year. He followed it exactly and ended up with soup in a bowl. Turns out, back in the day, they used a different kind of flour that soaked up more liquid. He had to add almost a whole extra cup of flour to get it to come together. Old recipes are like that sometimes, you gotta treat them as a starting point and adjust by feel.

Cable ties are the worst part of any repair job for me

Watched my buddy try to fix his bike rack with a cable tie last week. He pulled it tight, it snapped right at the lock, and the whole rack slid off and scratched his car door. He just stood there holding two pieces of plastic, totally defeated. That stupid tie cost him a paint repair.

After pulling a muscle tuning derailleurs, I'm split on daily stretches for mechanics.

Guess some folks think stretching is magic armor against all wrenches and bolts. Try telling that to my knee after it gave out from crouching by a tire all day. What good is a hamstring stretch when you're lifting a transmission wrong? But hey, if touching your toes saves your back, more power to you. Just don't act shocked when the new guy tweaks something on his first week.

Whole chickens turned out to be my budget meal hero

Do you have a go-to seasoning for your roast chicken? I do the exact same thing, buy two birds at a time. I'll roast one right away for dinners, then chop up and freeze the other one raw for quick meals later. The stock from the bones is the best part, makes the whole kitchen smell amazing.

Noticed biofuel options growing at our local equipment yard

That's a good point about older gear, but I've found the real test is with newer equipment. The biofuel runs just as strong in my modern mowers, but you have to watch for water in the fuel because it can separate. The big thing is it seems to keep the injectors cleaner over time. Just change your fuel filters a bit more often at the start, as it can loosen old gunk in the tank.
