Caught my kid watching Recess and it hit me different

I was folding towels in the living room yesterday and my 8 year old had Recess on the tablet. I sat down for a minute and watched the episode where Spinelli gets nervous about a spelling bee. It got me thinking about how that show actually nailed playground politics better than most adult shows do office drama. Did any of you rewatch a 90s cartoon as an adult and realize it was way deeper than you remembered?

Read an article recently that talked about how the show's creator based a lot of the playground stuff on actual real life experiences from his own childhood. It mentioned how the principal was basically a symbol of authority that kids have to navigate, which I never caught as a kid. Made me see the whole show in a new light. That episode where they form a union against the playground monitors is basically a workplace satire for children and it totally holds up.

@blair_davis maybe it is that deep but I still think it was just a fun cartoon about kids messing around.
