I just found out I've been singing the wrong words to the 'Doug' theme for 25 years
My kid was humming it last week and I jumped in with 'doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo, Doug!' like I always have. He looked at me and said, 'Dad, it's 'doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo, dude!'' I had to look it up on YouTube and he was totally right. I've been confidently wrong since 1991. It's funny how your brain just locks in a wrong idea from childhood and you never question it. Has anyone else had a moment like this with a 90s show theme song or catchphrase?

Oh man, that's a classic. I did the same thing with the "Fresh Prince" theme. For years I thought it was "In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground where I spent most of my days." Turns out it's "born and raised" and then "on the playground is where I spent most of my days." My brain just filled in the wrong connecting words. It's wild how you can hear something a thousand times and still get it wrong.

Our brains are lazy editors. I see it all the time with my crew when we're reviewing a paint spec sheet. Someone will skim it once, assume they know what it says, and then we end up using eggshell instead of satin on a whole wall. That initial wrong impression just gets cemented in place.
