Hot take: The new AI art tool I tried last month completely missed the point of what I needed.

Last month, I was working on a project for a local cafe in Austin and needed some simple, clean menu icons. I used this new AI generator everyone was talking about. I gave it a super clear prompt, like 'a simple black line drawing of a coffee cup, no background'. What I got back was this crazy detailed, shaded 3D render with steam effects, totally unusable for print. I tried tweaking the settings for three days straight, over 50 attempts, and it never just made the simple icon. It feels like these tools are getting better at being fancy, but worse at listening. Has anyone else found an AI that can actually follow a basic, specific instruction without adding a bunch of extra junk?

Actually, I've had the opposite experience with a few tools lately.

Reminds me of trying to use a smart thermostat that just won't stay on the simple schedule I set. It's always learning and adjusting, making the house too hot or cold because it thinks it knows better. We're surrounded by tech that adds layers of complexity when you just want the basic function. My car's touchscreen menu is the same way, burying the heater controls under three animated menus. Sometimes you just need the coffee cup, not the whole fancy cafe.
