Why does nobody talk about using AI to clean up meeting notes instead of chasing fancy new tools?
I work at a small insurance office in Denver and for about 6 months I was the guy who volunteered to type up notes after every client call. I would sit there with a notepad, scribble stuff about deductibles and renewal dates, then spend 40 minutes every Friday typing it into a shared doc. Last month my coworker Dana asked why I wasn't just recording the calls and running them through one of those speech to text tools on my laptop. I told her the last time I tried something like that was 2 years ago and it came back with garbage, like calling a "policy premium" a "police preemie" and missing half the numbers. She showed me how she does it now with a tool that costs $15 a month and it pulled out every date and dollar amount right. I tested it on 3 calls from last week and only had to fix 2 small things. Now I'm wondering what else I've been doing the hard way just because one old attempt failed. Has anyone else had a moment like this where you realize the tech actually caught up while you weren't looking?
