Deep cleaned my air fryer basket with vinegar and baking soda after 6 months of neglect
Used to just wipe it down with a damp paper towel until smoke started pouring out last Tuesday - now I soak the basket in hot vinegar for 15 minutes and it looks brand new. Anyone else ignore the manual's cleaning advice until something catches fire?

Nah, you got off easy. Six months is rookie numbers. I let mine go for almost two years before I realized the heating element was caked in enough grease to fry a chicken without the basket. But here is the real question: did you actually scrub the little holes in the basket, or are you just calling it clean because the big chunks are gone? Because those tiny holes are where the real nastiness hides. I use a pipe cleaner on mine now because that's the only way to get in there. Trust me, your air fryer is probably still dirty.

Wait, are you seriously saying pipe cleaners are the best tool for those little holes or is there something else you've tried that works even better? I've just been running mine under hot water and hoping for the best, but now you got me paranoid. Might have to check my basket tonight since I definitely never scrubbed the tiny holes.
