I used to think air fryers were just fancy toaster ovens until I did a side by side test

I spent years making frozen chicken wings in a regular oven at 400 degrees for 45 minutes flipping halfway. My buddy swore by his air fryer so I borrowed his one weekend. I cooked two identical batches of wings, same brand same weight, one in the oven and one in the air fryer at 380 for 20 minutes. The air fryer batch came out visibly crisper with the skin actually snapping when I bit into it. The oven batch was just wet and rubbery like always. Has anyone else done a head to head test that changed their mind on something?

Twenty minutes versus forty-five minutes is honestly blowing my mind right now.

Honestly my buddy Tom tried this with fries and it was wild. He did frozen crinkle cuts in both appliances at the same time. The air fryer ones came out crispy on the outside and fluffy inside while the oven batch was just sad and limp. He said the oven fries tasted like they had been steamed instead of baked.
