Vent: I ruined 2 batches of chicken before I realized my mistake

For like 6 months I was preheating my air fryer every time before tossing in chicken breasts. One day I forgot to preheat and threw them in cold, they came out way juicier. Turns out I was basically drying them out for no reason. Anyone else make that same dumb mistake?

it came out way juicier" - yeah that tracks with what happened to me too. I spent a whole year preheating my air fryer like it was an oven for chicken and pork chops. When I finally forgot one time I noticed everything was way more tender. I felt stupid for wasting all that time and energy on something that was making my food worse. Now I only preheat if I'm doing something like frozen fries that actually need the heat shock.
