Copied a panel wiring layout from a job in Reno and it bit me
I matched the exact zone layout from a Reno install on a house here in Boise, but the transformer was on a different circuit and it fried two sensors. Anyone else run into regional code tricks that make copy-paste installs fail?
Check the bonding jumper at the panel and see if the neutral and ground are tied together in the sub. Reno sits under a different utility and a lot of their subs are wired as service panels, so the neutral carries current you don't expect here in Idaho. If your transformer grounded through that shared bar, it would backfeed and smoke low voltage gear fast. What did your meter read on the primary side before it popped?
