That church job in Arlington last month made me rethink my whole approach to wireless sensors

I was installing a system for a big old church in Arlington and their thick stone walls were killing my signal every time I tried to place a window sensor. After failing 3 times, I had to run wired contacts for half the ground floor windows instead. Has anyone else run into weird building materials that just wreck your wireless range unexpectedly?

Thick stone walls" - that's just the church's version of a brick wall saying "not today, Satan.

Is it really just a brick wall though? Thick stone in old churches served a few purposes at the same time, not just keeping demons out. They kept the heat in during winter and the cool air in during summer, which was a big deal before central heating. And honestly, those walls were built to last centuries, way more than any cheap modern fence. So maybe it's less about "not today, Satan" and more about "we're here for the long haul, deal with it.
