The installer in Spokane told me to stop putting keypads on exterior walls, and now I get it
Said the temp swings in a garage wall make the membrane keys act up after about 2 winters, and I just replaced my third one in 14 months at a rental complex. Anyone else run into this or am I just picking bad spots?
Yep, garage walls are the worst spot for those things. I had one on a west facing exterior wall that cooked in summer and froze in winter, and the rubber pad got stiff as a brick by year two. You're not picking bad spots, you're picking spots the keypad was never built for. Temp swings plus a little moisture and that membrane is done. Stick them on interior walls near the door and save yourself the swap outs.
