Spent 3 hours trying to fix a light leak on my old Pentax K1000, turned out it was just the foam around the film door that I could have replaced for $8

I was shooting a roll of Tri-X 400 over two weeks around Portland and every frame had this weird fogging on the left side, but after peeling off that crusty old foam strip and slapping in a new one from a $8 kit on eBay the results were totally clean.

Read something similar on another forum. Someone found out their light leak was actually just the hinge letting in light. Whole new camera, yeah pretty much. It's wild how often these old cameras just need a simple foam replacement or a light seal kit. Makes you wonder how many good cameras get thrown out over stuff that costs pennies to fix. The K1000 is built like a tank, it's usually the seals or the mirror bumper that go first.
