Saw a new appliance store in Springfield with a huge 'we fix what we sell' sign
I was driving through Springfield yesterday and passed a big new appliance store. Their main sign said 'we fix what we sell' right out front. It got me thinking about the whole debate of stores doing their own service versus independent shops. On one hand, it might be good for customers to have one stop. On the other, I wonder if they'll have the same depth of knowledge on older models or different brands. Has anyone here worked for a store like that, or had to compete with one?

Oh man, I used to think that was a scam too.

Actually the sign is a Legit selling point, @simonmoore. My brother works at a place like that and they have to fix EVERY model they've ever sold, it's in the warranty. They keep parts for older stuff way longer than you'd think. The real problem is the wait time for appointments, not the skill.

That sign makes me wonder if they actually fix everything, or just the new stuff they're pushing. I'd be worried they'd try to upsell me on a replacement instead of fixing my old washer. What happens if you buy something there and then they stop carrying that brand?
