Swapped my cheap pocket notebook for a $8 field book with waterproof pages
For the first 12 years of doing appliance repairs, I used a regular spiral notebook in my truck. Every call I'd scribble down the model number, error codes, and what fixed it. Problem was, if it rained or I spilled coffee, the pages turned to mush and my notes were gone. Last fall after losing three hours of service notes to a leaky Thermos in Cincinnati, I bought one of those waterproof field notebooks from the hardware store. Cost me $8. The pages actually handle grease and moisture, plus it's small enough to keep in my chest pocket. I transfer important stuff to a spreadsheet on my phone every Friday so I can search it later. Now I'm wondering if I'm overcomplicating this. Does anyone else still handwrite notes or have you all gone fully digital with a tablet or phone?

Does the waterproof paper actually keep ink from smearing when your hands are greasy, or do you have to wipe off first? That's the part that would bug me more than the pages getting wet.
