Spent $200 on a hydraulic pole pruner that failed after 2 weeks

Bought a brand new hydraulic pole pruner from a local dealer in Portland. Second job trimming a bigleaf maple, the hydraulic line split right at the fitting. Dumped hydraulic fluid all over this lady's lawn. Took it back to the dealer and they said the warranty doesn't cover wear on hoses. Anyone else had luck fixing these lines yourself or is it better to just buy a different brand?

Dealers definitely pull that "wear items" thing a lot. You can probably get a replacement hose made at a hydraulic shop for like 30 bucks though, way cheaper than a whole new tool. But yeah, for a brand new one to blow that fast, that's a bad sign for the brand itself.

My neighbor had the same issue with a paint sprayer last year. Hose blew on the second use and the company told him it was a wear item too. He ended up just buying a different brand and that one's been running fine for over a year now.
