Store bought hummus finally beat my homemade after 6 batches

I've been making my own hummus for years because I thought store bought was always bland or grainy. Last week I grabbed a small tub from a local Mediterranean market in Portland on a whim, just for a quick lunch. That stuff had way more lemon and garlic punch than anything I've whipped up, and the texture was stupid smooth. I compared it side by side with my latest batch and it wasn't even close, mine tasted like paste. I think the secret is they use way more tahini and maybe some ice water during blending. Anyone else found a store version that beats their own recipe?

Wait, is it that place with the purple label, cuz that stuff changed my whole view on hummus too. I used to swear my recipe was the gold standard, but theirs has this bright, tangy kick that mine never got close to. I figured they were just loading up on citric acid or something, but after trying it, I went straight back to my blender and double the lemon and garlic. Still not as smooth, but at least it’s not paste anymore.
