Tried building a snack plate at a rooftop bar in Austin and the cheese selection was a disaster

Honestly, I was at this rooftop bar in downtown Austin last Friday, and they had a snack plate on the menu that looked promising. But when it showed up, the cheese was all pre-shredded cheddar and the crackers were those generic saltines you get at a gas station. There were only 3 grapes and 2 sad slices of salami on the whole board for $18. I asked the waiter if they had any brie or gouda, and he said they just use whatever the Sysco truck drops off. Has anyone else run into a snack plate that was this phoned in at a supposedly nice spot?

Sysco cheese in a rooftop bar is insulting at that price. You basically paid $18 for a gas station lunch with a view.

Used to roll my eyes at people complaining about Sysco, figured all restaurants used the same suppliers anyway. But you're right, at a rooftop bar charging that much they should be doing something interesting with local cheese or at least a nice aged cheddar. A greasy Sysco brick melted on a sad cracker is just lazy. I actually ordered a charcuterie board at a place like that last month and it was literally just cubed cheddar, pepperoni slices, and store brand crackers. Felt like a total mark paying twenty bucks for that.
