Unpopular opinion: wet ingredients belong on the side, not the top

I was at a deli on Grand Avenue last weekend and watched the guy drizzle balsamic glaze right over the whole cheese platter. I think it makes the crackers soggy and covers up the cheese taste. Which side are you on - drizzle on top or keep the dips separate?

Total mush" - sounds like a soup starter kit, not a cheese platter.

Tbh, you're so right. I had a catered platter once where the guy poured olive oil all over everything and the crackers turned into total mush before I even got to the table.
