Gifted a half-used tube of ultramarine and it sat for a week
I used to buy a fresh tube every time I ran low, but a neighbor in Austin gave me her leftover Windsor blue and I finally tried it on a sketch yesterday. Now I'm wondering if I've been wasting money on full tubes for 4 years, anyone else swap half-used paint with people nearby?
Figured I'd hate using someone else's half-tube but honestly it's been a week now and I reach for it every time. I've got two full fresh tubes sitting in my drawer that I haven't touched since. It's wild how much paint gets wasted when we all think we need to start fresh every single time. I swapped a half-used burnt sienna with a buddy last weekend too, and we just left the tubes on each other's porches like some weird art drug deal. Now I'm thinking about setting up a little paint swap box at the local art center, seems way smarter than buying new for every tiny project.
