Shoutout to whoever traded me those dry gouache pans

I had two almost empty tubes of viridian and payne's grey, and someone here swapped me for a beat up set of gouache pans that looked totally dead. I was about to toss them, but I soaked them with a little water and left them overnight. After 2 days of testing, they're way better than my old student grade tubes, the pigment is so much richer and the coverage is unreal. Has anyone else revived dried out gouache or should I just keep buying new tubes?

Did you wet them with plain water or add a drop of glycerin, since that can totally change how they rehydrate over time? I found that adding a tiny bit of glycerin to dried pans stops them from crumbly hard edges and makes them creamy again, like new. Worth a shot before you stock up on fresh tubes, cause that rich pigment you got is a keeper for sure.
