I used to think the best way to answer questions here was to be as fast as possible

A regular user told me last Tuesday, 'Your answers are quick, but they miss the point half the time.' That hit hard. I looked back at my last 20 replies and realized I was often just skimming the question and firing off a guess. Now I force myself to read the whole thing twice before I even start typing. It adds maybe 30 seconds, but my answers are way more on target. Has anyone else had to slow down to actually be helpful?

Totally get that. Speed used to be my thing too. Now I read slower and actually think first. Makes a huge difference.

But what about when you have to read fast for work or something? I used to feel bad about slowing down, like I was falling behind. Then I realized rushing just means I miss stuff and have to go back anyway. So now I try to find a middle ground, you know? Not every single thing needs deep thought, but the important stuff does.

Slowing down to really process things changed the game for me too.
