Rant: I used to think showing up early to the DMV was a flex, then Tuesday happened
I always bragged about hitting the DMV at 7am to beat the rush. Last Tuesday in Columbus I rolled in at 6:50am thinking I was slick, only to find 40 people already camped out with folding chairs. My license was expiring in 3 days and the kiosk told me my renewal was blocked due to an unpaid parking ticket from 2019. I sat there for 4 hours watching the number board barely move, then a clerk told me I could've just used the online chat to dispute the ticket and get a 60 day extension. I spent all morning angry at the line when the real fix was a 10 minute conversation with a robot. Has anyone else found a hidden official shortcut like that, or is it always just a gamble?

Man, I used to be the biggest "just show up in person" guy. Thought all that online stuff was for people who couldn't handle the real deal. Then last year I needed a title transfer and the county website had a chat that literally walked me through the whole thing in 15 minutes while I was eating lunch. Total game changer. Now I always check for the digital route first, even if it feels like cheating.
