Remember when we had to wait a week for film to get developed from the observatory?

I just compared a print from 2003 of the Orion Nebula to the stacked image I pulled off my backyard camera last night. The difference in clarity is just wild, isn't it?

Man, that's a perfect example. It feels like everything works that way now. My old point-and-shoot camera photos look like foggy messes compared to what my phone can do. The tech just gets cheaper and better so fast it makes your head spin.

My uncle bought a 4 megapixel digital camera back in 2003 for like six hundred bucks. We thought it was magic at the time. Now my phone's junk camera that I never clean takes pictures that blow it out of the water for free. It's wild how stuff that felt like science fiction just becomes normal and then totally outdated.

@taragibson, do you think we'll ever hit a limit to how much better this stuff can get?
