That $40 moon filter was my best impulse purchase yet
Last month I grabbed a cheap moon filter for my telescope before the full lunar pass and it turned blurry white glare into actual crater detail, has anyone else found accessories that make old gear feel brand new?

My dumb self bought a moon filter, looked at the moon, and went "huh, still looks like the moon." Turns out I had it screwed on backwards or something because once I flipped it the craters finally popped. Best ten minutes of feeling like a genius followed by an hour of feeling like a total idiot. Same thing happened when I finally got a decent eyepiece for my old scope, suddenly Jupiter had bands instead of being a wobbly dot. Cheap fixes really do make old gear feel new again.
