Doubted that fancy GPS watch for hiking until I got lost on Kennesaw Mountain
I was SURE my phone GPS was fine for the trails around Atlanta. Then last Saturday I took a wrong turn on the East Trail loop and my battery died at 15%. My buddy had this Garmin he swore by, so I borrowed it for the next trip. That thing literally guided me back to the parking lot through a foggy section I'd never been in before. Has anyone else had a device save them when their phone crapped out?

Whoa wait your phone died at 15%? That’s brutal, I’ve had mine hit 0 from 20% in the cold before. My old Suunto saved my butt in a whiteout on Springer Mountain once, never going back to phone-only again.

Read somewhere the battery gauge just stops updating in cold temps. Scary stuff.
