10,000 hours of paint work and I still mess up clear coat every time
Hit 10k hours in the booth last month. Everyone talks about muscle memory and all that, but I botched a hood last week on a 2018 F-150. Runs in the clear, had to strip it and reshoot. I mean, the milestone made me realize the veterans who act like they never screw up are lying. It matters because new guys look at numbers like that and think it means perfection. It just means you've had more chances to learn from the mess. Am I the only one who still gets humbled by something basic after years in the trade?

That's the thing about any skill, you never really "arrive" at perfect, you just get better at fixing your own screwups faster. I see it with home cooks who have been making the same recipe for decades, they still burn the garlic sometimes and just laugh it off. The real mastery is knowing it's not about avoiding the mistake, it's about how quick you bounce back from it that counts.
