A customer's one comment changed how I do door gaps

Last spring I had a guy bring in a 2015 F-150 after a parking lot hit. I finished the job, gaps looked perfect to me, and he just stared at it for a minute. He said 'the line on the driver side dips about a millimeter near the hinge, my uncle will notice.' I measured with my feeler gauge and sure enough, he was right. Now I check every gap at three points instead of eyeballing it, cheap insurance against guys like that. Anyone else had a picky customer teach them a trick they still use?

Wait, did you check all four door gaps or just the two fronts? Because the rear doors on those trucks can shift from the body mount bushings compressing over time, and THAT throws everything off by more than a millimeter. Also, what kind of feeler gauge setup are you using for that, the notched kind or a regular blade set?
