Question about that gray haze showing up on my resprays 6 months after I switched to a cheaper sealer
I need to warn you guys about something I noticed on my own work. About 6 months ago I switched to a cheaper sealer to save time on a run of insurance jobs at my place in Mesa. At first the panels looked great, nice and crisp, and I bragged to my helper about how fast I was getting through a fender. Last week a customer came back with his 2021 Silverado because the clear on his front clip looked cloudy in direct sun, like a gray film sitting under the topcoat. I wet sanded a test spot and buffed it and the haze came right back within a day, which never happens with my normal products. I pulled my old sealer off the shelf and redid one door as a test, and 3 days later it is still dead clear next to the hazy panels. My guess is the cheap sealer is still gassing out under the clear and the sun is cooking it, but I want to hear from you guys. Has anyone else chased a haze like this, and did you ever pin it down to the sealer or was it something in your gun setup?
