Spent 4 hours fighting a door gap I swore was a hinge issue

Turned out the pinch weld was slightly out of spec by like 2mm, and I was adjusting hinges and latches for nothing. Has anyone else wasted half a day chasing a problem that was actually somewhere totally unexpected?

@rubyreed hit the nail on the head. We always look at the moving parts first instead of the simple stuff that barely moves. Spent a whole afternoon once trying to fix a squeaky door in my old truck, turns out it was just the rubber weatherstrip shifted a half inch.

And that's the thing with so many problems in life isn't it - we fix what we can see first and waste hours before looking at the boring obvious stuff. Always check the foundation before you start messing with the hinges.
