Vent: The 'simple' quarter panel dent on a 2017 Civic turned into a 6-hour puzzle

It was just a small crease, but the access behind it was blocked by a welded-in brace nobody at the shop had seen before (we checked the Mitchell guide and everything). Had to cut a tiny hole in the inner structure, use a slide hammer from a weird angle, and weld it shut after, which added like 4 extra hours. Anyone else run into hidden braces on newer Hondas that just laugh at your normal tools?

That 10th gen Civic chassis has some truly evil hidden braces.

Totally makes sense why they'd hide them... keeps the body looking clean for the average buyer. Wonder if it's partly about crash test ratings too, like they needed the extra strength but didn't want to ruin the lines. Makes you think about what else is buried under the trim on modern cars.
