My soldering iron tip tinner fix for old corroded tips
Had a Weller station at the hangar that would not wet solder for nothing. Tips looked like a desert floor. I tried new tips, higher heat, flux, all the usual stuff. Then an old Navy guy told me to just dip the hot tip in tip tinner paste, not the rosin stuff. Did it once, wiped it on a damp sponge, and the tip went bright silver in 5 seconds. Took me about 3 months of fighting before that 2 minute fix. Anybody else use tip tinner on a regular schedule or just when tips act up?
