That $700 test box from eBay was pure gold until it wasn't
Picked up a used IFR 4000 for 700 bucks off an auction site last spring. Worked perfect for 6 months, calibrated a bunch of transponders with zero issues. Then last week it threw a weird error mid-test and now it won't power on past the logo screen. Sent it to a shop in Phoenix, they quoted 900 to fix it. So now I'm out the original 700 plus shipping both ways, and I'm wondering if I should've just bought new. Has anyone else gambled on used test gear and had it bite them this bad?
