Wrote off those cheap wire marking labels as junk, then a 3 hour fault isolation in Boise proved me wrong
I always figured the cheap printable wire labels were a waste next to the good heat shrink ones, so I kept a roll in the box mostly to humor the new guy. Last month I was chasing an intermittent in a King Air panel out in Boise and had four bundles of white wire running through the same loom with no clear ID. I printed up a stack of those labels and wrapped each end, and what would've been a full afternoon of buzz-out turned into about 20 minutes. The adhesive held fine through two ground runs and a flight, and pulling one off to redo a pin left no goo on the insulation. I'm not saying they replace proper sleeving for permanent work, but for troubleshooting a rat's nest they paid for themselves in one shift. Anybody got a brand they trust that doesn't peel after a few months in a hot tail cone, or should I just keep buying the same ones?
