Found out my rooster is technically a dinosaur descendant after a rabbit hole on Wikipedia

So I was up at 2am last night trying to figure out why one of my hens keeps pecking her own eggs (still no clue btw), and I clicked a link about chicken evolution. Next thing I know I'm reading that chickens are directly related to the T-Rex through a bunch of fossil studies. I mean I knew birds came from dinosaurs but somehow seeing it written out for my little flock of 6 just hit me different. Has anyone else gone down this weird science path and found something wild about their birds?

Wait, isn't it more like they share a common ancestor rather than being literally descended from T-Rex? I fell down that same rabbit hole a few months back and from what I remember, birds and theropod dinosaurs like T-Rex both branched off from a shared family tree way back. It's not like your rooster's great-great-grandpappy was a T-Rex... it's more like they're distant cousins a million times removed. Still crazy to think about though, especially when you see my rooster stomp around the yard with that same three-toed walk. The way they cock their heads and stare at you feels kinda prehistoric too.

So does that make your rooster literally a mini T-Rex with feathers?

Oh man, @perez.barbara just blew your whole dinosaur theory out of the water, Luna.
