I thought the whole 'chicken swing' thing was silly, but my broody hen snapped out of it in two days after I hung one up.

Remember my cousin's weird rooster that would only eat if you put a red ball in his pen. Birds are just odd little creatures.

Try a mirror, works just as well sometimes.
