Took my flock to a farm supply store and they lost their minds over a plastic rooster
I stopped at Tractor Supply in Cedar Rapids last weekend to grab some oyster shells, and as soon as I set the crate down near the lawn decor section, all three hens started screaming at this giant plastic rooster statue like it was a real threat. Has anyone else had their chickens throw a full tantrum at an inanimate object?

Like it personally insulted their mother" is exactly what happened with mine. The biggest hen puffed up and charged at the gnome's face while the others screamed backup from the crate. Inanimate objects must trigger something primal in their little dinosaur brains.

Did one of them try to fight it, or did they just stand there screaming like it personally insulted their mother? My own birds once had a meltdown over a garden gnome I forgot to move, so I feel your pain.
