My neighbor's 2-foot-tall tomato bush made me question everything
Tbh, I always thought you needed deep pots and serious trellising for decent tomatoes, but my neighbor in a 3rd floor walkup grew a massive crop in a shallow window box using just a bamboo stick. We talked last Sunday and she said she never prunes, just lets it sprawl, and that got me rethinking my whole setup. Anyone else ditch the tall cages for the messy chaos method?

The universe really said "stop overcomplicating plants" and honestly, it's humbling. My 5-foot monstrosity of a cage setup produced exactly two sad tomatoes last year while your neighbor's chaotic bamboo stick strategy sounds like it's feeding a small village. Maybe I should just yeet my entire trellis system into the sun and embrace the feral garden life. My back would thank me too, since wrestling that wire cage every fall feels like fighting a robot skeleton. Next season I'm basically gonna whisper "do your thing" to a tomato seed and walk away.
