Pro tip: I stopped judging fades off the mirror at my chair and started checking them in the window light
About three weeks ago I did a mid fade on a regular at my shop on 5th Street and thought it was clean as could be under my chair lights. He came back 10 days later and there was a soft ridge above his left ear I never caught. I started walking each client over to the front window after the cut and tilting their head toward the daylight, and in that first week I found 4 fades with lines I had missed. My chair light sits low and warm, so it flattens the blend right where the hair grows in whorls. Took maybe 45 extra seconds per head and nobody has complained about a patchy fade since. Any of you got a spot in your shop you trust more than the mirror for a final check?
