Question about a tough neckline blend on a client with a cowlick
I spent nearly 45 minutes yesterday trying to get a clean fade on a client whose cowlick at the nape of his neck kept pushing the hair straight up, and I finally got it by using my clipper over comb with the grain instead of against it.

Yeah, cowlicks at the neckline are the worst. I had a guy last week with the same thing. What finally clicked for me was using a trimmer, not my main clipper, and going super slow with the grain to just barely catch the ends of those sticking-up hairs. Then I went back with a little product and my comb to lay it down and check my work. Sometimes you just have to drop the fade idea and give it a clean, solid blunt line.

Man, that trimmer trick is a lifesaver. I had a client with hair that just would not lay flat at the back. I did exactly what you said, went real slow with the grain using just the corner of the blade. Then I hit it with a tiny bit of matte paste while it was damp to train it down.
