The hot towel thing finally clicked for me after 5 years of skipping it

I always thought hot towels were just for the fancy shops charging $60 a cut, not my chair. Last month a regular asked for one on a whim, so I threw a towel in the warmer we had gathering dust. The difference in how his neck felt during the fade was night and day, and he tipped an extra $5. Now I use it on any client who's got a tight neck or shoulders, and it changes how they sit still. Anyone else sleep on this feature and only start using it late? What made you swap over?

Barber across town from me runs this old school joint and he's been doing hot towels since the 80s. Told me once it's not just about the neck, it opens up the pores so the hair stands up straighter and he gets a cleaner line. Been trying to explain that to the younger guys at my shop but they just laugh and keep using the cold lather machines. Different generations man. Good on you for finally catching on, next thing you know you'll be doing the straight razor shave with the warm cream and there's no going back after that.
