Airflow direction is not a suggestion, learned that in my garage last week
I spent two evenings rearranging my desk setup in Austin and kept wondering why my PC temps were creeping up. Turns out I had my rear exhaust fan flipped around, pushing hot air back inside the case. The whole time I thought it was a bad paste job or my new GPU, but it was just a $15 fan facing the wrong way. After I flipped it, my idle temps dropped from 52c to 38c in about 10 minutes. Has anyone else caught themselves ignoring the little arrows on fans and chasing a ghost problem?

Man, I used to roll my eyes at people who made a big deal about fan direction. I figured air is air, right, it moves around either way and the case will sort itself out. Then I did almost the exact same thing you did, flipped one fan wrong during a rebuild and spent a week blaming my cooler and even redoing my paste twice like an idiot. Soon as I fixed the one fan my temps fell off a cliff just like yours did. Now I check those little arrows on every single fan before it goes in, no shortcuts. It is wild how one cheap part pointed the wrong way can make you think your whole setup is dying.
