Unpopular opinion: That RGB light strip kit I bought was a total waste of $35

Saw everyone on here raving about the ambiance. Picked up a cheap set from Amazon to try it. Spent 3 hours wrestling with sticky tape that wouldn't stick. Lights flickered after 2 weeks and the remote stopped working. Anyone else ditch the flashy stuff for a solid desk lamp instead?

Maybe the real issue is that RGB strips look great in videos but actually make your room feel like a fast food restaurant after a week. I gave up on them too and got a warm dimmable lamp instead, way easier on the eyes for late night gaming. Those sticky pads definitely aren't made for real use, they let go right when you've got the cable management perfect.

Oh man, @wren806 nailed it with the fast food comparison. My buddy spent a whole weekend setting up his strips perfectly, then the adhesive gave out overnight and they all crashed onto his desk like a dead disco. Gave up and bought a desk lamp shaped like a frog, honestly best $12 I ever spent.
