Visited a friend's new setup in Austin and walked away frustrated
He's got a 55 inch OLED, a proper desk riser, and cables running through the wall like a pro. Meanwhile I'm sitting here with a 10 year old monitor propped on a stack of old college textbooks. How long does it take to save up for a decent desk without going into debt?

Oh man I feel this so hard! My monitor is literally being held up by a copy of "Intro to Psychology" and a broken yoga block.

See, I dunno. The whole "making it work" with random stuff around your desk is actually a bad habit we should all break. That Intro to Psych book is going to slide out from under there one day, and that monitor is gonna crash. Not a fun sound or a cheap replacement. And a yoga block? Those things aren't meant to hold weight for long, they compress and get soft. Better to spend a tiny bit on a real monitor arm or a couple of cheap wooden blocks from a craft store that are solid and not gonna give out on you. It's one of those things where being a little picky now saves you from a big headache later.
