Blew $180 on a cheap offset smoker and it leaked like a sieve
I grabbed a bargain offset at a tent sale in Fort Worth for $180 thinking I could make it work with some foil and high temp sealant. Turns out the lid gaps so bad that temps swing 60 degrees and I burned through a whole bag of lump trying to chase it on my first brisket. After two more cooks I gave up and realized a used stick burner from a local guy would've been money better placed. My neighbor bought a $450 used Oklahoma Joe off marketplace and his runs steady as can be. What do you look for when checking out a used offset?
