My grocery bill went from $900 to $500 in three months, and it's not what you think

Huge pot of chili is a lifesaver. I do the same with a double batch of meat sauce. Brown extra ground beef with onions, dump in two big cans of crushed tomatoes and seasoning. Freeze half flat in a gallon bag. Thaws fast for pasta or sloppy joes.

DAE get annoyed trying to explain 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' to people who didn't watch it?

Trying to explain that show is like talking about a dream you had, it just doesn't translate. The whole midnight society thing made perfect sense back then. It reminds me of trying to get someone to understand the feeling of watching "Salute Your Shorts" or "Legends of the Hidden Temple." You just had to be there on a Saturday morning, you know? That specific brand of weird kid-TV magic is totally gone now.

Rant: The new code for elevator door force limits is making our job harder

That trick about cleaning the old grease first is smart. Did you find the clutch adjustment was super touchy after that, or was it pretty smooth?

TIL the new public library in Springfield has a tech help desk run by volunteers

Had a real problem with that idea at first. Your point about basic help for people who are stuck totally changed my view. It really is about filling a need.

My basil kept wilting until I started watering it with leftover tea

Honestly that egg water thing is genius. I started doing that with my houseplants too, not just herbs. My peace lily got all spotty and weak, but a few rounds of cooled pasta water perked it right up. The starchy water seems to feed the soil. I even use old aquarium water when I clean the tank, it's full of fish waste that plants love. It's crazy how much good stuff we just pour down the drain.
