That $30 rib rub I laughed at in the store turned out to be incredible

I walked past this little local brand called Smoke & Sorrow at a farmer's market near Kansas City like 6 months ago. Guy was charging $30 for a 6oz jar which I thought was insane. My buddy bought one on a dare and we used it on some spare ribs last weekend. Man I was wrong. That stuff had a maple and coffee thing going on that I never would have tried mixing myself. Anyone else find a random seasoning that blew your expectations away?

Same thing happened to me with a random rub I grabbed on a road trip last fall.

I saw a video from some pitmaster about how gas station rubs usually have too much salt and sugar to hide lower quality spices. @martin.jamie that road trip grab probably has you wondering what they really put in it. Idk it makes me want to stick with the few brands I actually trust.
